CHARACTERISTICS AND PARTICULARS: Natural, 100% recyclable and reusable

Cork is natural, 100% recyclable and reusable. A choice for the planet.

Cork oak forests help to regulate the hydrological cycle and protect the soil, thus preventing desertification. The forests also fix carbon dioxide, the main culprit in global warming. Recyclable and reusable, cork is the perfect expression of the catchphrase ‘nothing is lost everything is transformed’.

The cork oak is the only tree in the world whose bark – cork – has unique characteristics. The tree is very long-lived, with an average life span of over 200 years.

The first harvesting of the cork only takes place when it is 25 years old. Subsequent stripping is done every 9 years and does not harm the normal development of the cork oak tree.

The woodlands shelter a number of species that are either unique or protected. The Iberian lynx and imperial eagle are two examples. Furthermore, the Mediterranean Basin has between 15 and 25 thousand species of plants, more than half of which are only found in this region.

Cork oak forests contribute to the sequestration of carbon. Fewer than 1.5 hectares of forest are needed to mitigate the annual emissions of carbon dioxide of an average car.
